Design Process

1. Sketching

Initial sketches explored various compositions, testing placements for the cat silhouette against the landscape. The aim was to ensure the cat remained the focal point while harmonizing with surrounding elements.

2. Color Palette Selection

A vibrant color palette was developed, featuring warm sunset hues of orange and yellow, transitioning into deep purples and blues, with deep greens for cacti and earthy tones for mountains for contrast.

3. Digital Illustration

Using digital software, the sunset gradient was created first for seamless blending. Next, cacti and mountains were added to complement the background, followed by the cat silhouette, emphasizing a pose that exudes wonder.

Finalization and Presentation

01. Refinement

The illustration underwent several rounds of refinement, focusing on:

  • Detailing: Adding texture to the cacti and mountains for depth.
  • Lighting Effects: Enhancing the glow of the sunset to create a more immersive atmosphere.

02. Client Feedback

The draft was presented to Whiskers & Wonders, receiving positive feedback. Minor adjustments were made based on client suggestions, including slight modifications to the cat’s pose and adjustments to the color saturation.

03. Final Output

The final illustration was delivered in high-resolution digital format, suitable for both print and online use.
